Packing for your Destination Wedding

Get ready to pack… there’s quite a bit you’ll want/need to bring.

  • Tropical vacation

  • Wedding

  • Wedding gifts/bags

  • Decorations

  • …. And so much more.

  1. Get your packing list started early. Add specifics for your big day and get a staging area in your house for items, checking them off as you go.

  2. Pack your wedding favors/welcome bags/gifts in bulk and plan to wrap/put them together in destination. Keep your receipts handy if you’re asked to prove value to a customs officer. If your items excede the allowed amount, be sure to divide your items amongst family members.

  3. Use a sturdy box or cheap/old suitcase as you won’t want to pay for suitcases on the way home that are empty and no longer needed.

  4. Ask for care instructions from your dress shop. Can you steam the material, any suggestions from them to store/prepare your dress after a day of travel?

  5. Ensure all liquids are fully protected by plastic bags to avoid all leaking possibility.

Plan to have your wedding day outfits in garment bags as a carry on. When you board as the flight attendants if they can help find a safe place for them. It can sometimes be in a first class overhead bin or a first class coat closet (if your flight has one). If the plane isn’t full they’ll sometimes let you have a overhead bin to yourself.
